★ News from June 2004:
I've been working rather hard for the last few weeks on my book, The Humanation of Chaos: Artistry & The Long-Form Improviser, which I've been writing since late 2003. As of today, I passed a writing deadline I set for myself--to have the first draft done by 6/11/2004--but I still have a ways to go. I'm still creating and writing strongly, though!
I've decided to split the book up into two parts: "Artistry & The Long-Form Improviser," which deals with the structure and flow underlying long-form improv, and "The Humanation of Chaos," which deals with the structure and flow underlying the universe.
The book has turned into my philosophy of life, and a spirituality of sorts. It is sort of Eastern-religions-meet-science-and-math, without mentioning Eastern relgions and without really dabbling in science or math.
I feel deep-down this book will blow the socks off the world. I write hurriedly but wait patiently.

Some things I hope to accomplish with the book I'm currently writing, The Humanation of Chaos: Artistry & The Long-Form Improviser, outside of writing about improv, include invalidating string theory, providing a continuum for understanding mental illness, deriding skepticism as the most valuable tool for perceiving the world, describing dark energy, wedding chaos theory better with human behavior, redefining the life cycle from star to black hole, breathing new life into the descriptions of Freudian neuroses, perhaps recasting Darwin's theory of natural selection, even suggesting with simple mathematics how the universe will evolve.
Alfred Korzybski long ago drew a structural differential for describing the process by which humans abstract information from their environment and cast it into language. I'm working on a much more refined structural differential of sorts, that hopefully will describe the subtleties of language as well as other human behavior with more accuracy.
But the book is ultimately about long-form improvisation. I'm not quite sure how much more I have to write on that part, which makes up the first part of the book. But as of tonight, I am a few pages shy of 200 pages. I've been combing over earlier writing and refining the ideas, adding examples to make it more understandable. It's hard work, and I want to distract myself because the concentration it requires is a little intense. But my thoughts feel in order; it is more a task of making sure my thoughts are clear to others who read them.
Anyway, wish me luck!

This evening I had a couple of auditions.
First, I auditioned for The Chaos Theories at Shotgun Productions. In attendance was Playwright Alex Dinelaris and Director Stewart M. Schulman.
Later in the evening, I auditioned for a play compiled entirely from the poetry of Shel Silverstein, produced in association with the Davai Theatre Company. In attendance were Director Glynis Rigsby and Producer Marisa Quintanilla.
