★ News from February 2000:
I’m in the second week of Control Freaks in Love, the NYC premiere production being done at St. Mark’s Theater. I have a lead role, I’m having a blast with the cast and making absolutely great friends, eating out a little too much and staying out a lot too late. It’s gonna be hard to end this show, parting with the people especially. I hope we don’t forever part.
The one-act I wrote, After Class, had its NYC premiere on February 12th at The Theatre-Studio, Inc. Arwen Nichols directed the excellent actor Tony Martinez. It’s just been invited back to TSI for more performances, but Arwen and the assistant director Natasha Charles unfortunately won’t be involved because they are doing a tour now. So, given that schedules work out and Tony’s interested in doing the show, I make undertake a co-directing credit and move the script onto the next level. Arwen also has a lead at a very respectable theater where we might be able to do a hush-hush workshop production of the play. Let’s hope After Class takes off.
Jason Nettle and I are moving on to staging our own production of Edward Albee’s The Zoo Story. That’s gonna probably fill up my March availability.
In a few days I’ll sub in as a casting assistant at Lynn Kressel Casting. I did that in December. It’ll be crazy; they cast Law & Order and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and there are some pilots and perhaps other projects going on as well.
I’m overall very busy, with a schedule that doesn’t allot for much free time. I’m temping in the daytimes at my regular temp job, S. Clubs, where I basically do word processing and answer phones. I work on average three to four days a week at S. Clubs, but recently my hours have been down because my boss has been out of town more, not needing me as much.
I keep telling people that Life is Fantastic . . .
